Frequently Asked Questions
Do you deliver and install bridges nationwide/internationally?
Yes, we can arrange delivery across New Zealand and work with local contractors for installation. We also design bridges for straightforward transport and on-site assembly using standard readily available equipment. All pre-fabricated bridge components are designed to fit in a standard shipping container and we will ship internationally by special arrangement.
Can Kiwood bridges be customised to suit my site?
Absolutely. Our bridges are engineered in-house and can be tailored to your specific site conditions, span requirements, and load ratings.
What vehicles are your bridges designed to support?
Our bridges are designed to carry everything from light farm vehicles to heavy transporters in accordance with the NZTA bridge manual and relevant NZS/AUS building code standards. Each product includes a specified design load and can be customised if required.
How long does it take to manufacture and deliver a bridge?
Lead times vary depending on the project scope, but most standard bridges can be delivered within six months of confirmed order. We’ll give you a clear timeframe when quoting.
What kind of maintenance do timber bridges require?
Timber bridges require periodic inspections like any structure, and our designs minimise maintenance by using durable, treated timber and corrosion-resistant components. We recommend an annual inspection for the first three years then every 5 years thereafter. Kiwood will provide you with a maintenance schedule and service conctract should you require.
Are timber bridges compliant with NZTA or council requirements?
Yes. Our bridges are designed in accordance with the NZTA bridge manual and relevant NZS/AUS building code standards. The bridges are built for full HN/HO truck loadings as appropriate to the bridge location and can be adjusted to suit additional local council demands, if required.
Do I need specialised equipment to install a Kiwood bridge?
No. Our bridges are designed for low-tech simple assembly using standard farm or contracting machinery, making them ideal for rural and remote installations and makes assembly/construction accessible to a large range of building practitioners near you.
